WORD Day 2024 planning

WOrld young Rheumatic Disease Day (WORD Day) is an international awareness campaign that began in 2019 and takes place on 18th of March each year

Dr Eve Smith and Sammy Ainsworth, from the University of Liverpool and Alder Hey Children's Hospital, are founders of the day and key members of the co-ordinating team.

A huge variety of events, both online and in person, are held across the globe to raise awareness and educate about paediatric rheumatic diseases.  Two large international webinars take place featuring panels composed of parents, young people, health professionals and clinicians. These sessions, which delve into research, rheumatology treatments, vaccinations and the impact of COVID -19, have garnered participation from over 200 people worldwide.

Plans are now underway for WORD day 2024 with a focus on the theme of inequality. The campaign also has an extremely successful social media outreach that resonates across the globe. We would love to see the day grow even more and to hear about any events you might be planning.

For some resources to help you plan any activities you can head to the Word Day website. Further details on the plans for WORD Day 2024 will be announced in due course.
