Designing net zero carbon buildings’ - The talk will take a brief look at social, environmental and economic sustainability with a focus on the key issues to consider when designing a building to compliment the UK commitment to be Net Zero Carbon by 2050. The talk will look at examples of current projects being designed to low operational energy targets with a particular focus on future projects in Liverpool.

Biography: Rob Hopkins, Director AHR Architects

Robert is a Director at AHR and along with being the practice Head of Sustainability, is a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Biophilic Design and Sustainability. Robert is particularly passionate about health and wellbeing in design and the optimisation of buildings and spaces to enhance the wellness of its occupants. Robert has recently led on the design of the new £35m northern home for the Royal College of Physicians, The Spine, which incorporates biophilic design features and is designed to WELL Platinum to create an inspirational workspace, with wellness in mind and body at the heart of the project.
