The story of how designing for children became design by children, to create the most unique and non-institutional major NHS hospital ever built (so far).

David is a Project Manager in the Alder Hey in the Park team at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Trust with over thirty years of experience in NHS Estates Management. He was the original driver for the new Alder Hey in the Park and oversaw all the early consultations with children, families and the local community. David has continued to lead on the Children’s involvement in the design as well as leading diverse work-streams such as art and M&E. He has a passion for transferring ideas into practice with a particular interest in developing creative solutions that are truly patient focused.
