- What do I do if I cannot attend my exam?
- All students are expected to be available to attend their exams. However if you know you will not be able to sit your exam, you need to speak to your School Office. They will advise on what your options are. Being on holiday is not a sufficient reason for not being able to attend an exam – it must be exceptional or unavoidable circumstances such as illness or bereavement.
- What am I allowed to bring into my exam?
- You are always allowed to bring in the following specific items:
- Standard stationary – pens, pencils and other drawing tools (must be in a clear pencil case or bag, or carried loose)
- Bottle of water
- Tissues (removed from packet)
- Cough sweets
- Over the counter pain medication – providing it is in its original packaging

- What type of calculator can I use for my exam?
- You need to check with your School Office before your exams what type of calculator you are allowed. During your exam, there will be a form of checking, which will depend on the exam you are sitting. You will be instructed on how this works during the start announcements.
- I have forgotten my calculator or stationary – can I borrow from anyone?
- No you cannot borrow stationary or equipment from another student or invigilator.
- I have lost my student ID card, can I still sit my exam?
- Yes you can still sit your exam if you do not have any photographic identification (ID) with you. However it will be noted and you will be given a reminder slip – and any further incidents where you fail to bring ID will be reported to the Student Conduct team.
- I do not have any physical identification with me, can I use my digital student ID card on my device instead?
- No. Once you enter the exam room you must switch off and place your phone in the bag zone or under your desk and cannot use this to show digital ID. If you only have digital ID this will count as you not bringing any identification.
- I will be late arriving to my exam, will I still be allowed to sit it?
- If you arrive within 30 minutes of the start time of the exam you will be allowed to sit your exam, but you will not get any time back that you lost as a result of being late.
- If you arrive more than 30 minutes after the start time of your exam you will not be permitted to enter the exam room. You will be told to speak to your School Office to seek advice.
- I am due to sit my exam but I do not feel well, what should I do?
- It is up to you if you still want to sit your exam, however if you feel too poorly to sit your exam then you should contact your School Office to advise them you will be absent. They can offer advice and support.
- What do I do if I feel unwell during my exam?
- If you feel unwell during your exam you must raise your hand and make an invigilator aware as soon as possible. They can escort you to leave the exam room and then you can enter re-enter the exam room (if you feel better) or leave the exam room permanently if you are too poorly to continue your exam
- Can I go to the toilet during my exam?
- Yes you can but unless you have it specified in a support plan you will not reclaim time lost by going to the toilet.
- Can I leave the exam room early?
- You are permitted to leave your exam early if there are more than 30 minutes remaining. If there are less than 30 minutes remaining you will not be allowed to leave the exam room.
- I have exam adjustments but my exam room is a lecture theatre – is this a mistake?
- For some exams we use lecture theatres, do not be alarmed if you find your exam is in a lecture theatre as it is common to use these (including for exam adjustment students) during the exams period.
- What do I do if I feel my exam has been impacted by disruption that occurred during the exam?
- If you feel you were not able to perform to the best of your ability due to any disruption that occurred during the exam you should speak to your School Office who will advise you on the Additional Considerations policy.
