“Surely You’re joking, Ms. Habgood!”

Becky Habgood, a sixth form student from West Kirby Grammar School, spent a week at the Cockcroft Institute with the QUASAR group for her work experience. She had the chance to chat with many of the QUASARs and visit our laboratories and learn about our research activities.

During her stay with us, Becky made an excellent job looking into the promotion of our outreach activities. She prepared a very nice presentation about all of our recent outreach events, including videos, articles and photos, to be shown on both the CI and UoL welcome screens.

In her own words:

“I have really enjoyed spending my work experience week at Cockcroft Institute with the QUASARS. I have learnt so much about working in Physics, my week has really given me a taste of what a job as a physicist would be like. This has made me much more determined to work even harder towards getting onto an Undergrad degree program in physics.

I have also learnt so much about physics, from what a QUASAR is, to how particle accelerators are used and the basics in how they work. I have found the whole week super interesting as well as enjoyable.

I can’t thank the whole team enough for giving me an insight into the real world of physics!”

The QUASAR group is always happy to welcome and motivate young students who want to pursue a career in physics. Who knows? Maybe in the future they will become as famous and popular as Richard Feynman and we will say: “Surely You’re joking, Ms. Habgood!”
