QUASAR group member Miguel Fernandes and his colleagues gained the attention of leading online newsletter Superconductor Week, for their work on the measurement of low-intensity beams in the Antiproton Decelerator at CERN.

Superconductor Week released the article in their December 20, 2016 edition Vol. 30, No 11 after the journal paper “Non-perturbative measurement of low-intensity charged particle beams” was published in the IOP – Superconductivity Science and Technology journal.

This very relevant newsletter highlighted QUASAR member, Miguel Fernandes' work on developing methods using a SQUID-based Cryogenic Current Comparator monitor. Non-perturbative measurements of low-intensity charged particle beams are particularly challenging to beam diagnostics due to the low amplitude of the induced electromagnetic fields.

Superconductor Week has been the leading newsletter providing global coverage of the technology and commercialization of low- and high-temperature superconductors and cryogenics for large- and small-scale applications for over 25 years.

For our QUASAR member this was well deserved recognition from a very relevant online publisher that reports only the major scientific, technological, and business events impacting the superconductor industry.
