A home-made linear accelerator

Published on

Have you ever wanted to build your own particle accelerator? A new video released by the University of Liverpool’s Quasar group shows you how to build step by step a Rail Gun and a Gauss Rifle. These simple machines demonstrate some of the underlying principles of particle accelerators using basic materials like tin foil, magnets and batteries.

The video, now on YouTube, has been produced as part of a project funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering to promote accelerator science among schoolchildren.
