In his recently published article in Physics World, Prof. Carsten Welsch expresses his concerns that advances in accelerator science may be delayed by skills shortage. He highlights the need of more undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in accelerator science at universities across Europe as well as “cross-sector” schemes with relevant private sector institutions providing continual development opportunities.
