Measuring what others can’t see

QUASAR , who is also a Fellow in the oPAC network made a video with the help of Monika Chudanicova about a digital micro-mirror device which he is using as a novel optical halo monitor for charged particle beams. Monika is a Ph.D. student from the University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic who joined the Group for 4 weeks to learn about our R&D activities and participate in some outreach activities.

Blaine hopes that his video can attract people from all types of backgrounds into science and especially that it can tell them about accelerators as vital tools for cutting edge research. His short video illustrates the functioning principle of a monitor that his is developing within his oPAC project.
