Outreach for more outreach

As part of the project’s outreach activity in hosting external students, Monika Chudanicova has joined the QUASAR Group at the Cockcroft Institute to further her knowledge of magnetism and learn about the UK approach to outreach.

Monika is a visiting Ph.D. student from University of Ostrava, Czech Republic with a Master’s degree in Physical Geography. She is currently completing her Ph.D. thesis on Environmental magnetism and its application in study of recent floodplain sediments. To assist this she chose Daresbury Laboratory for her internship to have an opportunity to discuss her PhD project with physicists and get a better understanding of magnetism. However, the main focus of her internship is learning about outreach and popularization of science in the UK. Thus, she has also joined Science & Technology Facility Council’s public engagement unit to take part in their outreach activities.
