QUASAR Contribution to IOP Workshop

The Cockcroft institute hosted an IoP workshop on Novel Materials and Nanostructures for Particle Accelerators on 28th/29th October 2014. The workshop covered a range of topics including new structure concepts and fabrication, accelerating structures, obtaining and using the radiation from electron beams in microstructures, as well as simulations of novel structures in particle accelerator. After each topic, there was a 30-minute discussion section for questions and answers, which allowed all participants to communicate, exchange knowledge and get to know each other.

QUASAR Group member and Marie Curie Fellow Yelong Wei contributed a 20-minute talk about Dielectric Laser-driven Accelerators (DLA) to this workshop. He described his simulation work on these novel structures and how double grating structures can be used for electron beam acceleration.
