QUASARs at IBIC14

Last week, members of the Quasar group attended the International Beam Instrumentation Conference in Monterey, California. The conference covered a wide range of topics in instrumentation and was followed by an extensive tour of the SLAC facilities and an additional workshop on Beam Halo Monitoring. In addition to the usual talks and poster sessions, there were a number of tutorials led by experts from outside the BI community.

Guenther Rehm presented a summary of last year’s IBIC with a particular focus on follow-up publications in which Quasar group and the Cockcroft Institute featured prominently. This year’s conference was no different, with Quasar contributing two talks and a number of posters.

Attendees were able to enjoy the California weather, with the conference dinner taking place outside, an unusual pleasure for Quasars based in Warrington or Geneva. All in all, IBIC 2014 was both useful and highly enjoyable.
