Dmitry Gudkov joined the QUASAR Group in his role as research associate in January 2023. He will lead the development of the Beam Loss Monitors Ionisation Chambers and coordinate the development of a special vacuum stand required for the IC manufacturing as well as all auxiliary equipment and processes.

Dmitry graduated from Bauman Moscow State Technical University with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2006. He started his career at Innostorm Industrial Design Studio as a Mechanical Design Engineer working on the design and development of safety and medical electronics appliances.

In 2008 Dmitry joined CERN CLIC study project to work on research and development for Radio-Frequency components, resonant accelerating structures, beam diagnostics devices and other accelerator systems. During this time Dmitry obtained knowledge and experience in complex accelerator systems, UHV components, electromechanical devices for operation in ultra-high vacuum and highly radioactive environment.

In 2015 he joined the Beam Instrumentation group at CERN where he worked on the Beam Wire Scanners (LHC Injectors Upgrade Project) which he successfully completed in 2019. In parallel, he worked on other beam instrumentation projects which are currently in operation at CERN Accelerator Complex.

Along with developing his engineering skills by working within international and interdisciplinary teams, and moving from one successfully finished project to another, Dmitry started working on project management tasks to yield more benefits to the organization. In 2019 Dmitry successfully passed the exam and obtained Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification from the Project Management Institute.

In 2020 he joined the Cold Beam Position Monitor Project, a part of the Beam Instrumentation Work Package of the High Luminosity LHC program. Dmitry completed all research and development work, successfully finalized the pre-series production, managed quality, procurement and documentation to prepare for the series production and assembly of these Beam Position Monitors in the coming years.

We would like to warmly welcome Dmitry Gudkov into the QUASAR Group!
