The 7th CCAP plenary meeting was held online on 16th December 2020 and hosted by the Centre for Clinical Application of Particles (CCAP).

In this meeting, Quasar Dr Hao Zhang presented a talk about “Beam diagnostics for medical application”. In his presentation, he covered conventional diagnostics for proton beam used in medical facilities, as well as current R&D into novel instrumentation in the QUASAR Group and how this could help give better insight into beam behaviour, e.g. in the frame of the LhARA project.

CCAP is an interdisciplinary collaboration aiming to develop the technologies, systems, techniques, and capabilities necessary to deliver a paradigm shift in the clinical exploitation of particles.

This plenary meeting focused in particular on the new LhARA programme to which the QUASAR Group contributes and the required instrumentation and biological R&D programme.  LhARA stands for Laser-hybrid Accelerator for Radiobiological Applications and aims to design a new world-leading radiobiology facility.
