The Faculty of Science and Engineering Poster day 2018 hosted in the Mountford Hall, University of Liverpool Guild of Students brought together 2nd year PhD students to present their work and exchange their research to a broader science community. The represented faculties were Chemistry, Mathematical Sciences and Physics as well as Mechanical and Civil Engineering. A wide range of research areas were covered such as the behaviour of polar seabirds, modelling of the blood flow in an artery stent or the temperature measurement of plasma in a fusion reactor. More than 100 early stage researchers presented their work.

QUASAR members Jacinta Yap and Roland Schnuerer were taking part this year to talk about their projects on Halo Dose correlation and a non-invasive Beam monitor in medical accelerators. The event showcased the wide range of cutting edge research taking place across the Faculty and encouraged further collaboration and networking across disciplines. It was a great opportunity to meet likeminded researchers, staff and visitors, as well as a chance to learn about other research currently being undertaken.

At the end of the event the Faculty Director of Postgraduate Research Prof David Joss honoured the best overall poster and the best poster from each school with a small prize.
