MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Entry requirements

  • The minimum UK entry requirement is a 2.2 Honours degree in a health or social care related subject.  Applicants with an alternative appropriate professional qualification in health care will also be considered.
  • Applicants should be employed in a health or social care setting which provides them with the opportunity to translate theory into practice.
  • A minimum of two years post-qualification professional practice is required in the UK.
  • All applicants must be registered to practise with an appropriate statutory regulatory body.
  • Individuals can only be considered for the apprenticeship programme if they are working towards the achievement of the approved Apprenticeship Standard for Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
  • Employers will select the applicants they consider appropriate for the apprenticeship programme. A joint meeting will take place with the applicant, employer and university to ensure suitability for the programme.
  • The employer should identify a mentor who will support learning in the workplace and work collaboratively with the apprentice and university to ensure development of the required knowledge, skills and behaviours. This will form part of the Written Agreement and Commitment Statement agreed between the employer, university and apprentice.
  • Candidates must show evidence of level 2 Maths and English prior to registering for the End Point Assessment and, if required, will be supported to achieve the necessary qualifications.
  • Accreditation of prior learning may be considered in accordance with the University’s policy on recognition of prior learning (RPL). However, for the level 7 apprenticeship programme the application of theory to practice and work-based learning needs to be considered. It should be noted that the apprenticeship levy can only be used for new learning. Therefore, if it is agreed that prior learning can be recognised, and some modules do not need to be taken, then funding for these modules cannot be used. In addition, the duration of the apprenticeship needs to be adjusted accordingly.
