Academic and wellbeing support

Making sure you have the academic and wellbeing support you need to achieve your potential is our priority. We’ve set out the key support that is available to you as one of our valued Liverpool Online students.

What learning resources will I receive once the transition has taken place?

The University and Kaplan will put in place all of the necessary learning resources to ensure that we can continue to provide a high-quality experience for students still studying with us from 2 April 2021.

What services will I receive?

From 2 April 2021, you will be able to access a range of services support from the Kaplan Student Services Team, including:

  • Student Support – for advice and guidance on module enrolment, progression and policies and procedures
  • Study Skills Team – for support with academic writing skills, planning and time management, referencing and academic integrity
  • Student Experience and Welfare – for advice and guidance on disability, reasonable adjustments and welfare.

The dedicated Student Services Team will be your first point of contact for all non-academic queries and will support you and provide any guidance that you may need through to the completion of your award.

We will be holding a series of welcome events to introduce you to the Kaplan team. We will publish further details as soon as they are available.

What help can I receive for my individual study requirements?

Students transferring to our new arrangements with Kaplan will be able to access support through the Kaplan Student Services Team.

If I need information about student loans, who can help?

Students transferring to our new arrangements will be able to access information about your student loans from the Student Loans Company (SLC) from the University’s Fees and Finance team.

If I need IT technical support, who can help?

Students transferring to our new arrangements with Kaplan will be able to access the relevant technical support channels available via the Kaplan Virtual Learning Environment.

What academic writing support could I receive?

Students transferring to our new arrangements with Kaplan will be able to access academic writing support via the Kaplan Study Skills Team and through the Study Skills Hub on the Virtual Learning Environment.

Students can access support for a range of topics including referencing, using the library, structuring an essay and planning assignments. The Study Skills Team is available via email, phone or one-to-one sessions can be arranged.

Access to the University of Liverpool Library

Liverpool Online students will continue to have access to our fabulous library resources and dedicated library team through to the end of your studies.

For students transferring to the Kaplan arrangements, library access will be integrated into the Virtual Learning Environment for a more seamless experience.

What career support will I receive?

Students transferring to our new arrangements with Kaplan will be able to access career support via the Kaplan Virtual Learning Environment.

What arrangements will be made for student engagement?

Student engagement is at the heart of our culture and community at the University of Liverpool. We listen to our students and actively seek your feedback in order to continually improve and enhance your experience.

Your input to improving and enhancing our programmes is important and there are several ways that you can become involved in doing this. Information about the range of ways to communicate with us will be available through the ‘Student Voice’ resource on the Kaplan Virtual Learning Environment.

The Liverpool Guild of Students

As a Liverpool Online student, you are an Associate Member of your Students’ Union - the Liverpool Guild of Students. The Guild is here for you and provides lots of ways you can get involved both now and beyond April 2021.

In light of the pandemic, the Guild is currently organising lots of online events that you can attend. There are weekly craft sessions, quizzes, informative talks, as well as live performances and opportunities to meet other students virtually. To see all of the upcoming events, visit the Guild’s Events page.

You can also make friends and try new things by joining one of the Guild’s societies. There are hundreds to get involved with, from professionally-focused societies like accounting and finance through to more leisure-based groups, like gaming, yoga and BakeSoc. All societies are free to join this year and you can sign up to as many as you’d like to.

Finally, you can also access the Guild’s free and confidential advice service should you face any academic, accommodation or wellbeing issues.
