Student contracts and future billing

We know you may have some queries around your student contract and any future billing arrangements. We hope the information set out below is helpful.

Will I need to sign a new student contract?

When you transition to the University’s new arrangements with Kaplan, you will move onto to the University of Liverpool Programme Terms and Conditions for Online Study for for transitioning students.

The programme terms and conditions set out the way our service to you will be delivered, the responsibilities of the University, Kaplan and you, the student, and the associated policies which govern this arrangement.

As part of the registration and set up process to access your new classroom and learning modules, you will be asked to confirm your acceptance of these programme terms and conditions, which will replace and supersede any previous contract signed with Laureate.

The financial terms that you agreed with Laureate will stay the same, so there will be no change to the fees, currency or payment plan that you currently have in place. We will confirm these terms to you nearer to the transition date.

We will provide this information to you as soon as possible so that you have adequate time to read the contract and raise any questions before accepting the terms. We are committed as always to providing you with the best possible educational experience. However, should you have any concerns please do raise these with us through the Liverpool Online transitions communications form.

What policies will I need to adhere to?

All staff and students of the University of Liverpool are expected to adhere to the University’s regulations, policies and procedures. Students moving to the University’s arrangements with Kaplan will also need to adhere to Kaplan’s key policies.

A list of the key policies can be found in the programme terms and conditions or via our policies page.

What fees will I need to pay?

For students transferring from the Laureate arrangements, the fees and payment terms that are set out in your contract with Laureate will continue to apply through to the completion of your award with the University of Liverpool. We will write to you individually to confirm these arrangements.

You will also need to ensure that you have paid any fees owed to Laureate.

How do I pay my fees?

Kaplan has responsibility for the administration and collection of fees in respect of tuition delivered under the new arrangements. The Kaplan Online Payment Portal allows you to make secure tuition fee payments in your preferred currency. You can track and confirm your payment by email, SMS or by logging directly into the Online Payment Portal.

If you are in arrears for payment of tuition fees at the end of your programme, the University reserves the right to withhold your award certificate and will not offer you registration for a graduation ceremony until your account has been brought up to date.

What if I owe fees to Laureate?

Students who owe fees to Laureate will transfer to the new arrangements but will not be eligible to progress to the next stage of their studies. This means that you will not be able to progress to a dissertation or thesis class, take or retake a module), graduate from your degree programme or attend a graduation ceremony until the University receives confirmation that the outstanding balance has been cleared.

You can settle your account to Laureate through the normal Laureate bursar process. Please visit the Laureate Student Finance Portal if you need to check your balance and use the online support form if you have any queries relating to your account.

If you settle your account with Laureate after 2 April 2021, Laureate will confirm this in writing to you. Laureate will also confirm to the University that your account is clear so that you can progress to completion of your award or graduation.
