Winter always has its way with time, doesn’t it? Even as the new year stretches its legs and arms with a great, renewing yawn, the greyscape of that cloudy, January sky persists deep into February. That, however, did not stop us from meeting in the Belvedere to help usher in the new year with poetry, drinks, and a continual predilection for birds and their loftiness in our fiction! We had a larger group, this time, with a few new additions—and some new voices.

Session number 12, 06/12/2023
Our final meeting of 2023 took place at the Belvedere on the 6th December. In this, the bleak midwinter, the inhospitable weather kept a number of our coterie at bay, but what we lacked in numbers we made up for in festive cheer – not to mention literary wit, depth and pathos!

With six people attending, our November session was an intimate one; yet the incredibly high quality of the texts that were presented and the lively discussion that followed each reading made it as stimulating and exciting as ever. Offering us shelter from the chilly weather and early-descending darkness was our usual room in the Belvedere.

Session number 10, 27/09/23
As we gathered for our tenth Creative Writing session at the Belvedere, the atmosphere was marked by the hint of a new season with leaves still more green than orange, and the weather rainy and warm, The Belvedere’s familiar mint-blue walls were a welcome space to reside. There was discussion about whether it was jacket or coat weather, pork pie interludes, and literary podcast appearances. Though smaller than some previous sessions, the group was a balanced mix of intimacy and shared creative energy, welcoming a total of six participants.
