Mobile Planetarium

30th April We welcomed Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, space engineer and presenter of the BBC’s Sky at Night who talked to us about ‘Women in Science: The Challenge’. We also invited lecture attendees to 'give it a go' in the Universty's Mobile Planetarium (above). Watch Here.

2nd October Over 100 staff and students joined us for our new members Welcomes event as part of the Univeristy's Welcome Week activities.‌

October Dr Katie Aktinson becomes Professor Katie Atkinson and was appointed as the Head of the Department of Computer Science.

23rd October We welcomed Denise Chilton who talked to us about ‘Finding your balance’ between work and personal life.‌

Women of Future Laura Harkness Brennan

2nd November Dr Laura Harkness-Brennan was short-listed in the Science category of the ‘Women of the Future Awards’ and was ‘highly commended’ for her work. Read more here.

23rd November we welcomed back Screenhouse Productions who delivered a Media Masterclass on ‘Finding Your Story: Communicating Your Expert Work with Impact’.‌

LivWiSE Celebrating Success Awards 2015

2nd December LivWiSE was shortlisted for a University Celebrating Success Award in the Good Practice in Equality Category. We were 'Commended' for our work.

Christmas Lecture 2015b

3rd December we welcomed over 250 people to our Annual Christmas Lecture where we heard about the life of ants, melting snow dogs, virus’s, the invisible universe, Moore’s law and the maths behind insurance. Watch Here.‌
