Personal Statement

I graduated from the University of Dundee in 2012 and went onto clinical training completing my foundation years in Ninewells Hospital (Dundee) and core medical training in West of Scotland (Ayr and Paisley). Following that, I started my research journey in the Lister Hospital (Stevenage) whilst working part-time as a cardiology fellow. In 2020, I completed my PhD with University of Hertfordshire, returned to clinical training and joined University of Liverpool and the Liverpool Centre of Cardiovascular Sciences in January 2021 as a NIHR clinical lecturer.

My research background is based predominantly around assessing patients with coronary artery disease and risk stratification in order to achieve the best clinical outcome. This revolves around utilising biomarkers of thrombosis and fibrinolysis to identify patients of varying degrees of risk to employ different pharmacotherapy tailored to their risk profile.

Taking up the post as a clinical lecturer allows me to take on the challenges of the different aspects of being a doctor which involves being a clinician, a researcher and a teacher all at the same time.
