About
Personal Statement
I am an EPSRC-UKRI Innovations Research Fellow, working on the project titled Novel Bioengineering for Auto-Integration of Advanced Cell Delivery Substrates.
My background is in Chemistry and my is PhD in Biomedical Materials, both graduated from the University of Manchester. My PhD involved developing a novel electrospun substrate as a cell delivery scaffold for delivery into the eye. Immediately after my PhD I worked in industry in a medical device development company based at the Manchester Science Park, as a Clinical Research Fellow (Product Technologist). After moving back into academia I worked on developing a novel eye treatment for keratoconus as my first postdoctoral research associate position.
Since then I have successfully been awarded funding for my own research fellowship by the EPSRC, working on novel innovative interdisciplinary research. I now am working on my own research as Primary Investigator developing a novel medical implant for the eye. During this fellowship I will be working closely with the industrial and clinical sectors to develop the implant. I am looking forward to working on my own research and leading my own multidisciplinary research team.
