ILCaMS staff came together recently for the Institute’s inaugural Professional Services Away Day.

Organised by Head of Operations, Anna Jones, the day provided PS staff with an opportunity to hear the Institute’s new strategy, as well as engage in team building, professional development, and well-being activities.

The morning sessions comprised of a presentation from Anna Jones, and a video message from Executive Dean, Professor Pete Clegg; both highlighting the invaluable work carried out by professional services staff and offering a look forward at plans for 2024 and beyond.

Further updates were provided by technical, finance, and management services leads, as well as the managers of the School of Dentistry and the School of Medicine. Team leaders commended the brilliant work from all their teams, and the importance of how the collective contribution is invaluable in the success of the Institute, and the University as a whole.

Rounding up the morning session, attendees took part in the range of professional development activities. A workshop on Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity was delivered by Professor Taz Goddard-Fuller and Laura Davies, before Tracy Ellis of The Academy provided an engaging presentation on professional development; highlighting how individuals in our Professional Services Teams can take steps to forward their own careers within the University and beyond, and how The Academy can empower them to do so.

With the business focused section of the day complete, attendees were given the opportunity to relax with a wide range of activities including festive arts and crafts, mindfulness sessions, and consultations with Sport Liverpool providing health checks.

The day closed with a Christmas themed quiz and well-earned refreshments for all the teams.

Anna Jones, speaking of the day, said: “I’m so happy our Professional Services people had this opportunity to get together and relax away from the office, and get involved in all the great activities we planned. It was the first time a lot of our staff have had the chance to meet in person, and hopefully the day gave us all a chance to get to know each other, which will help us work better going forward.”
