Professor Lip Awarded Honorary Degree at Esteemed Polish University

Professor Gregory Lip, Director of the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science, was recently awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, by the University of Silesia, Poland.

Professor Lip received the honorary degree from the Medical University during a ceremony at the Institution on 17 May 2023.

In reaction to this honour, Professor Greg Lip said, “I am very humbled and honoured to be recognised and appreciated with conferment of this honorary doctorate from the Medical University of Silesia in Katowicze, Poland.  The opportunity to work with colleagues globally, including from Poland, has been the ethos of the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science.  This honorary doctorate is a recognition of the collaborative value of the LCCS family, and I am delighted it has been recognised in this way.”

On awarding the honour to Professor lip, Tomasz Szczepański, Rector of the Medical University of Silesia, said ‘It is a great honour to host Professor Gregory Lip and his wife here. You are the hero of the day. There is no greater celebration for us than the conferral of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. I am extremely proud that today we will honour Professor Gregory Lip with it. He is not only an outstanding scientist who enjoys great authority in the global scientific and specialist environment, especially cardiology, but also a great friend of our university. He cooperates both in the field of research projects, specialist training and supports with kindness young scientists who like to draw on his knowledge and experience.
