The Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences, and the School of Dentistry’s Professor Sondos Albadri has been elected president of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD), the UK’s leading organisation for children’s oral health.

Members of the Society confirmed her election at the AGM during the most recent BSPD annual scientific conference. Professor Albadri commented: “I am delighted that BSPD’s Merseyside branch nominated me for the role and I look forward to representing the Society nationally and internationally.”

It’s a BSPD tradition that the President takes on the leadership role in their home city, making Liverpool the venue for BSPD’s conference in 2021. The incoming President works with a local organising committee to plan three days of top class scientific and educational events as well as a social programme. The conference will attract around 300 specialist dentists to Liverpool in 2021.

A member of BSPD’s Executive Committee, Professor Albadri has also been BSPD honorary Editor, chair of the conference abstract and prizes committee and associate editor of its journal, The International Journal for Paediatric Dentistry.  In addition to her role as an educator and researcher within the School of Dentistry , Sondos works clinically as an honorary consultant in Paediatric Dentistry in both Liverpool Dental Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The BSPD is a prestigious national organisation of 600 members, dedicated to raising standards in children’s oral health. As President, Professor Albadri will oversee the work of the society, chairing both its council and the executive committee.

Professor Albadri will commence her role from the date of the next general meeting between the 4th and 7th October 2021.
