Place-based approaches to renewing the economy

Economic growth

The fourth in our series of Insights compilations explores innovative, place-based approaches to changing the way our local economies work.

As the UK Government seeks to kickstart its economic growth mission, local and regional leaders in England are using the powers and responsibilities delivered by devolution to develop new approaches to economic development. This collection brings together policy briefings from our archive highlighting the importance of decentralised, long-term, place-specific and community-grounded approaches to the economy.

The briefings in this collection demonstrate that effective economic renewal requires a genuine transfer of power and resources to places, and openness to innovative frameworks, models and strategies.
