Places - taking a long view on British and European regional policy

Olivier Sykes (HI Impact Fellow and Geography and Planning) and Mark Boyle (Director of the Heseltine Institute) were the speakers at a seminar event in the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) in London. The overall theme of the seminar was 'Places - taking a long view on British and European regional policy'.

Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, and his Greater Manchester counterpart, Andy Burnham, and leading local stakeholders came together with 150 guests to discuss the progress of the city region devolution one year on, how it's working and next steps. Chaired by Professor Michael Parkinson and hosted by the Heseltine Institute, speakers discussed why devolution matters, its challenges and opportunities, including Brexit, the policy pipeline of the LCR Combined Authority, and reflexions from Greater Manchester.
