Matthew Reed

Matthew Reed is an experienced Chief Executive and transformational leader. He is passionate about inclusion and social   justice, ensuring that everyone has the very best chance to thrive and flourish in all aspects of their life.

Matthew is currently Chief Executive of Marie Curie, the UK’s largest end-of-life charity and provider of palliative and end-of-life care.  Marie Curie’s work includes Hospice care in patient’s homes, in-patient Hospice care (including the Marie Curie Liverpool Hospice), academic research with several UK Universities, public policy across the UK administrations, public information and support around death and dying, and a focus on poverty at the end of life.

Previously Matthew was Chief Executive of The Children’s Society, tackling exploitation and exclusion amongst young people and young adults experiencing multiple disadvantage. Prior to that Matthew was Chief Executive of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust  (medical research), a director at Christian Aid, and a parish priest in Merseyside.

Matthew is also currently chair of the New Horizon Youth Centre  charity which provides direct support for young people in London experiencing homelessness and helps shape public policy regarding homelessness amongst young people.

He has a degree in Theology from the University of Oxford, a degree in Engineering and Management from the University of Nottingham, and a Masters in Management from the University of Surrey.
