Dr Alison Campbell

Alison Campbell is CEO of the Government Office for Technology Transfer (GOTT). She joined the UK government Department of Science, Innovation and Technology in April 2022 to establish GOTT and now leads a multi-disciplinary team. Together they work with government organisations to realise the potential of their intangible knowledge assets, through targeted policy interventions and direct support for emerging opportunities including providing proof of concept funding and expert IP and commercialisation advice. Previously, she spent nine years as Director of Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI), developing the national office responsible for policy, practice, and the performance of the Irish knowledge & technology transfer (KTT) system. A biochemist, Alison started her career in the biotech industry and moved into research commercialisation at the Medical Research Council’s technology transfer company (MRCT) where she progressed to interim CEO and leading technology transfer and research support at King’s College London. Alison has contributed widely to the KTT profession and is a member of the TenU Advisory Board. She is Past Chair of the Board at AUTM (the US based international association for technology transfer) and a founder and Past Chair of ATTP, the body that sets the global standards for the profession. Alison helped found Praxis (now PraxisAuril), the UK professional association that delivers training in KTT. In 2018, she received the Global University Venturing Lifetime Achievement Award. She was also awarded an OBE in 2010 in recognition of her contribution to Knowledge Transfer. Alison grew up on the Wirral and is currently based in Manchester.
