Each theme in the series is designed to offer new ways of
thinking about international business issues and will be
presented by a member of the ULMS academic staff and
alumni with expertise relevant to that particular topic.
The online seminars will address four key business-related
issues: leadership, social media, strategic thinking and
non-executive directors. All you need is a computer, an
internet connection and speakers or headphones, and to

Burning Issues
lecture series

A lecture series addressing some of the `burning
issues' which are shaping the economies and
business environments of the future will open with a
lecture from Professor Brian Barwick, former Chief
Executive of the Football Association and Visiting
Professor at the School.
The Power of Leadership will be held on Thursday
29 September at 5.30pm in the Sherrington Building
and will be followed by a networking reception.
It will be the first in a series of free lectures held at
the University throughout 2011/12 which will feature
key speakers including: Brendan Barber, Secretary
General of the Trades Union Congress; John
Cridland, Director of the Confederation of British
Industry; Lord John Birt, former Director General of
the BBC; and Will Hutton, Executive Vice-Chair of
The Work Foundation.
