Video Endoscopy

Video endoscopy involves inserting a thin probe up to 3 metres long with a camera on the end. It can be used to investigate the oesophagus and stomach, as well as the sinuses and upper respiratory tract, lungs and bladder. High quality digital video images are displayed on a monitor and recorded for future reference.

The procedure is useful for diagnosing conditions such as lung inflammation, gastric ulcers, problems with the throat and larynx, bladder stones or cancer and tears of the rectum.

Horses are sedated for endoscopy, which can be performed on an outpatient basis.

We capture and share images as static photos or video clips. Our senior clinicians review them and provide a report to the referring vet.
