Future Founders Programme: A programme designed by our IP Commercialisation team for early-stage University of Liverpool academic founders

The Future Founders Programme (FFP) is a novel six-week programme designed to demystify business management and support University of Liverpool researchers and inventors leading early-stage University projects who are ready to take on a director or ownership role of a developing business.

The programme, designed by the University's IP Commercialisation team in conjunction with training providers who are external experts in intellectual property, early-stage commercialisation, innovation, spin-out formation and development, follows on from other accelerator programmes such as ICURe. The second edition of the Future Founders Programme will be delivered over five half-day in-person sessions of practical hands-on learning through short blocks of teaching, case studies and practical exercises. The programme content will cover the following:

  • Corporate governance and roles and responsibilities of the Director's Board
  • Personal leadership and combining academic and entrepreneurial mindsets
  • Positioning and effective storytelling for spin-outs
  • Effective management of intellectual property, and
  • Understanding the investors' community.

Building on the success of the first edition of the Future Founders Programme in 2022, funding has been secured by the IP Commercialisation Team to run the programme on an annual basis. To get in touch with the IP Commercialisation Team, please email lip@liverpool.ac.uk

The program very neatly wraps up the fundamentals of starting a company and becoming a successful founder.
