Each year, we support 60 students through upReach, helping talented undergraduates from lower socio-economic backgrounds build the skills, confidence and networks needed to succeed in their careers.

The impact is clear. Compared to students from similarly disadvantaged backgrounds, upReach Associates on the RISE programme are 44% more likely to secure highly skilled full-time employment, 62% more likely to earn above the UK median graduate salary, 31% more likely to achieve a positive graduate destination, and 30% more likely to be in full-time employment.

Through personalised career support, employer insight, mentoring, skills development and networking opportunities, upReach helps students realise their potential and access opportunities that can transform their future career prospects.

The upReach’s RISE programme offers support and guidance throughout your university journey. The team will help you explore career options, develop key skills, and secure internships, work experience, and graduate roles in any sector. 

Are you eligible? 

upReach is a social mobility charity focused on supporting students from under-represented backgrounds. To join the RISE programme, you must: 

  • Be a full-time undergraduate student
  • Typically start in your first year of university
  • Have achieved at least BBB at A-level (contextual factors like your school or area are considered)
  • Be from any degree background.

Once enrolled, you’ll receive support through your time at university and for 12 months after graduation. 

What does the programme involve? 

When you join, you’ll be paired with an upReach Programme Coordinator who will provide personalised 1-to-1 support, including: 

  • CV reviews and feedback
  • Application and cover letter reviews
  • Mock interviews and assessment centre preparation.

Additionally, you’ll have access to: 

  • Exclusive work experience opportunities
  • Employer events and insight days
  • Online resources like employer guides, practice tests, and career courses
  • Webinars to build employability skills
  • On-campus skills workshops
  • A professional mentor in your sector of interest.
