We are excited to announce a new partnership with EmployAbility to bring you enhanced employability support.

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting students with disabilities, we are dedicated to breaking down barriers to employment and providing you with the tools and resources needed to succeed.

As a Next Generation Inclusive University, you now have access to a comprehensive range of support services, including:

· Adjustments advocacy, helping you request necessary accommodations and ensuring employer compliance with disability policies

Disability: adjustments in recruitment and the workplace, Tuesday 8th October, 2-3 pm

Our Next Generation Inclusive University partnership with EmployAbility, will kick off with a session focussed on empowering disabled and neurodivergent students to ask for the adjustments they need to ensure equity in recruitment and in the workplace. The session will give an overview of the Equality Act, the duty of the employer to provide the adjustments needed, and what constitutes a ‘reasonable’ adjustment. It is a safe environment to ask any questions, and learn more about how Employability can help you.

Neurodivergence: navigating the recruitment process, Tuesday 22nd October, 2-3 pm

If you are a neurodivergent student or graduate, navigating the recruitment process may feel daunting. This session will look at the barriers you face, and provide solutions to overcome them. Our disability partner EmployAbility will cover topics such as imposter syndrome, fear of discrimination, information about inclusive employers, your legal rights, and examples of adjustments to help you demonstrate your skills and competencies. It will be a safe space to learn, and get answers to questions you may have. We very much hope you’ll be able to join.

You do not need a diagnosis to attend this session, if you feel you are affected, then please come along to this session designed to provide practical advice and guidance to empower you to succeed in your job applications.

Mental health: your rights to privacy and adjustments, Wednesday 13th November, 2-3pm

This session will focus on mental health and how you can access support when applying for roles. Fear of stigma, discrimination and recruitment-related stress may be aggravating your condition. This session will advise on the adjustments available and your rights to these, empowering you to be comfortable and confident to ask for what you need when applying for jobs. The EmployAbility team will address the key issues, provide practical solutions, and answer any questions you may have (anonymously if you prefer). EmployAbility will also explain how they support you so that you can access the career you deserve with confidence.
