Preston Bus Station

Preston Bus Station featured in one of the School of Architecture’s Impact Case Studies for REF2021, as Dr Christina Malathouni’s research enabled the listing of the building and successfully completed a 15-year campaign.

Following its listing in 2013, the building was sensitively refurbished by John Puttick Associates and gained a number of prestigious awards.

Since the submission of our Impact Case Study, it has continued to gather accolades: in November 2021 it won a leading international conservation award, the 2021 World Monuments Fund/Knoll Modernism Prize and it is currently also in the short list for the 2022 Civic Trust Awards.

Join us on Tuesday 15 February 2022, 6.00 to 7.30 pm, for an event on Saving and Restoring Preston Bus Station, organised by DoCoMoMo-UK, where Dr Malathouni joins architect John Puttick to discuss what has become a fairy tale of 20th-century architectural conservation.

The event will be live-streamed by Zoom. Please register by writing to: docomomo.uk.info@gmail.com
