Research Overview

I currently work on a wide number of muscle physiology projects:

Understanding the importance of physiological inputs in the development of accurate musculoskeletal models

Developing effective therapeutic interventions to enhance microvascular remodelling across a range of disease pathologies (e.g. ageing and spinal cord injury)

Muscle mechanics, specifically looking into better understanding and characterising the eccentric force-velocity relationship

Research Collaborations

Dr Philippa Warren

Project: Diaphragm function following cervical spinal cord injury
External: King's College London (KCL)

The functional capacity of skeletal muscle following chronic spinal cord injury (SCI) and successful motor recovery has had limited attention. We are investigated how diaphragm mechanical properties change following chronic cervical SCI and after plasticity induced recovery of respiratory function.
