I am studying MSc Accounting and Finance.

What’s the best thing about studying your programme?

Finance is the force that propels the business world forward. With everyday advancements in accounting processes and functionality, this field has been revolutionised, with new opportunities and new potential pitfalls. A master’s degree in Accounting and Finance will open up new career opportunities and advancement in the field. The programme will provide me with a broader understanding of the business world and help me develop analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. It will also open the door to professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, ACCA and many more, which can further enhance my career prospects. The programme lays great emphasis on deep, advanced and practical learning

How do the facilities in the University and the Management School help you with your studies?

Facilities at the University play a significant role in helping students succeed in their studies. The modern libraries provide students with a wide range of books, quiet study spaces and dedicated areas for group work which enhances the entire learning experience. Facilities such as gym, sports fields, and recreational spaces help me maintain a healthy balance between my academic and personal life.

What kind of support do you get from academic staff and tutors?

The course is taught by expert academics who have close links with industry to ensure that I graduate with the skills, knowledge, professional accreditation and experience that is relevant to my future career. Academic staff and tutors also hold regular office hours during which students can drop in for one-on-one assistance or to ask questions. The University provides an easily accessible support system for its students which helps us succeed academically as well as personally.

Have you accessed any of the support services available to you, such as the School’s postgraduate careers team? If so, how did you find the service?

The support services available at the University are simply amazing. The career studio which supports in various ways such as resume reviews, job search assistance, and networking opportunities has helped me a lot. I also attended various events organised by the School through which I learned about various aspects of the field.

What do you enjoy most about the whole experience (thinking about any trips, social and extracurricular activities or guest speakers) and what value has that added?

The whole experience has been very enriching. It has exposed me to new cultures, perspectives and ways of learning, as well as provided opportunities for personal and professional growth. As an international student studying a master’s degree in a student-friendly city like Liverpool has helped me in understanding how people and businesses function in other parts of the world which is essential to be successful in the future.

How do you believe undertaking master’s study will help your career prospects?

Pursuing a master’s degree can help enhance career prospects in several ways such as understanding problem-solving, way of thinking, collaborating with various people, social intelligence, creativity and giving an insight into new media. It will also help me qualify for more advanced roles and greater responsibilities in the fields of Accounting and Finance.
