Personal Statement

Dr Shakti Prasad Sethi received his Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) degree in electronics and communication engineering from the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Odisha, India, in 2013. His undergraduate project was on the demonstration of visible light communication (VLC) application for sending audio signal using light emitting diodes (LEDs). He received Master of Technology (M-Tech) degree in communication system engineering from the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (Formerly UCE, Burla), Odisha, India, in 2017. His master's project focused on the perturbation study of elliptical and hyperbolic patch antennas for c and x band frequency range. After qualifying CSIR-NET-JRF in Physics, in February 2018, he joined as a CSIR-Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Process Engineering and Instrumentation department, CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, India, and subsequently enrolled in the PhD program of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad, India.

In 2023, he was awarded PhD degree in Engineering Sciences, where his doctoral thesis was on the Development of Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis Techniques for Plasma Process. In his doctoral thesis work, he worked in the non-invasive diagnostics of plasma process through instrumentation, optical emission spectroscopy, signal processing, machine learning, and deep learning. After completing his PhD degree, he had a stint in academics as an assistant professor in the electronics and communication department, Chandigarh University, Mohali, India.

Dr Sethi joined the QUASAR Group as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Liverpool in April 2024. He is currently working on the simulation and experimental studies of gas jet monitoring, beam gas curtain study in collaboration with HL-LHC.
