Research Overview
I am an STFC Ernest Rutherford Research Fellow in Nuclear Physics, studying the shape of exotic nuclei. Predominantly, my research takes place at radioactive ion beam laboratories, such as the ISOLDE facility at CERN. I have a particular interest in studying the octupole degree of freedom in nuclei, the driver of asymmetric pear shapes, and it's potential impact in the search for atomic electric-dipole moments.
Octupole-deformed nuclei
Studying the shape of octupole-soft and octupole-deformed nuclei by the means of nuclear reactions and decay spectroscopy.
