Marilyn Hacker

Marilyn Hacker returned to the Centre for New and International Writing after reading from her own work and her translations of Rachida Madani in 2013 as part of the Port of Call Series. In this latest visit, she read from her recent work and answered questions from the audience. 


Marilyn Hacker is an American poet, translator and critic who has been in Paris for many years. Her first collection, Presentation Piece (1974) won the National Book Award and her combination of formal verse and often radical content has since won innumerable other awards across her fourteen poetry collections. Her most recent publication, A Stranger's Mirror (2015), features work from her previous four collections alongisde many new poems and was longlisted for the National Book Award.
