The Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Liverpool Management School was delighted to welcome Leo Paul Dana, Professor of Entrepreneurship at Dalhousie University who travelled from Nova Scotia, Canada to present at the Centre’s latest research seminar on 21st February.

Professor Dana is a distinguished entrepreneurship scholar, ranked #1 Entrepreneurship Scientist in Canada in 2023 and France and is among one of the most cited authors in entrepreneurship with publications in high ranked journals such as the Journal of World Business, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Research.

Professor Dana’s presentation entitled ‘Entrepreneurship and Economic Development – an almost controlled experiment’ focused on his research into Indigenous peoples, comparing differing styles of entrepreneurship on the same island but with different national jurisdictions. His conclusion was that culture was a strong explanatory variable to entrepreneurship and economic development.

The following day, Professor Dana undertook an external examination of a Management School PhD student, Ling Li who passed with minor modifications. We are grateful to Professor Dana for his contributions to the activities of the Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship and delivering such a stimulating presentation.
