Dr Severina Cartwright attended Academy of Marketing Science 2023 in New Orleans

Earlier this month, Dr Severina Cartwright attended the three-day Academy of Marketing Science annual conference. Taking place from Wednesday 17 – Friday 19 May in New Orleans, United States of America, the theme of the 2023 conference was Welcome to the New Normal: Life After the Chaos.

Over the three-day event, attendees had the opportunity to network with other marketers to exchange ideas and develop and expand marketing theory and practice in addition to forging new relationships. Key discussion topics included AI ethics, consumer marketing in VR, the power of influencers, public policy, brand strategy, management and measurement.

On the penultimate day of the conference, Severina was invited to present in a Business and Society session. Severina presented her paper Paradoxical Tensions: The Pervasiveness of Social Media which was co-authored by Emma Hughes, University of Leeds, Iain Davies, University of Strathclyde, and Lloyd Harris, University of Manchester.

Severina commented on her trip to New Orleans: “Attending the Academy of Marketing Science 2023 conference in New Orleans was invaluable. I particularly enjoyed meeting new academics and expanding my network.

“The presentation sessions that I attended were also insightful and interesting. Certainly, feeling very grateful for the opportunity provided by the University of Liverpool Management School.”
