University of Liverpool Pension Fund

If you join the University in a role that qualifies for University of Liverpool Pension Fund (ULPF) membership, you will automatically be entered into ULPF. ULPF is a defined benefit pension scheme which means the benefit you receive is worked out using a known formula.

There are two sections of ULPF - the Final Salary Section and the CARE Section.

For more information about opting in/out of ULPF, please visit the ULPF Opting In/Out page. You can also download forms to opt in or out of the scheme from the Documents page.

Final Salary Section‌

You will be a member of the Final Salary Section if you have been a member of ULPF continuously since before 1 August 2011. The Final Salary Section provides benefits based upon your pensionable service and your pensionable salary/earnings when you leave or retire.

The ULPF - Final Salary Section Booklet for Members provides full details of the Section’s pension benefits.

CARE Section

You will be a member of the CARE Section if you joined ULPF on or after 1 August 2011. The CARE Section provides benefits based upon your pensionable earnings for each year that you are a member of ULPF.

The ULPF - CARE Section Booklet for Members provides full details of the Section’s pension benefits.

The contributions currently payable by a member of the CARE section are 6.5% of earnings. The University currently pays 13.4% of earnings.

On the ULPF Documents page you will find a library of publications including the Scheme booklet and recent newsletters.
