Heseltine Institute Policy Briefing 2(04)

Our latest policy brief is ‘Care home practices, mental health and staff support: learnings from the pandemic and lessons for future policy’ by Dr Clarissa Giebel and Dr Kerry Hanna of the University of Liverpool

Based on research with families of care home residents and staff over 2020 and 2021, this paper highlights the shortcomings of care homes in the UK and proposes a series of measures to reform the sector. The briefing emphasises the importance of staff training and mental health support, and the need for clear guidance and support for social care from government.
