Heseltine Institute hosts seminar with academics from the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies

On Thursday, the Heseltine Institute was pleased to welcome Professors Danny MacKinnon and Andy Pike from the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) at Newcastle, as part of a seminar on subnational governance.

In their presentations, both academics focused on salient issues in the field of local and regional development. The presentation by Professor MacKinnon offered an incisive theoretical and political analysis of the Northern Powerhouse concept; whilst Professor Pike’s presentation addressed the struggles of cities to fund, finance and govern urban infrastructure in an age of austerity and limited decentralisation across England.

The seminar is just one of several upcoming events that the Heseltine Institute will be hosting over the coming year. Further information on our upcoming events can be found on our events page.
