Modelling and Simulation
Modelling and simulation will play an increasing role across life cycle processes for the development of new aircraft types, airframe/system upgrades and the expansion of operational flight roles. As part of this, flight simulators have become integral to the manufacturing, training and research communities and their utlilisation is expanding rapdily.
Depsite the increase in sophistication and advancement of modern technology, simulators are not capable of providing an exact representation of reality, instead provide a limited level of real world fidelity. FS&T is working to enhance the capability of flight simulation in the aircraft life cycle process using its full motion flight simulator and modelling tools such as FLIGHTLAB and Matlab/Simulink.
