Join Professor Tom Solomon as he hosts a regular discussion on Coronavirus and its impact on science and society in Liverpool. Tom talks with leading Liverpool researchers about the scientific progress being made in the city to tackle the virus and chats about the wider impact of the pandemic with some famous local faces.

Professor Tom Solomon is Director of the UK's Emerging Infections Research Unit based as the University of Liverpool, is on the NHS front line at the Walton NeuroCentre and Royal Liverpool University Hospital, and appears regularly on television and radio discussing science.
Roger Phillips has lived and worked in Merseyside since the 1970s, when he came to Liverpool as an actor to join the Everyman Theatre. He started working as a broadcaster for BBC Radio Merseyside in 1978 and has since won numerous accolades for his work, including the Sony Award for best phone-in presenter, the National Union of Journalists Broadcaster of the Year, and BT Regional and National Broadcaster of the Year.
In 2001 he was named Sony Speech and Talk Broadcaster of the Year and was also presented with an honorary degree by the University in recognition of his work and contribution to the city. In 2011 he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Radio Academy. He is a board member of Bradbury Fields (formerly Liverpool Voluntary Society for the Blind), and former board member of the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres.
Professor Louise Kenny is the Executive Pro Vice Chancellor of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool; a founding Director of the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funded Irish Centre for Fetal and Neonatal Translational Research (INFANT www.infantcentre.ie) and was until December 2017 Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Cork University Maternity Hospital where she worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist from 2006-2018. Professor Kenny has received numerous awards for her work, most recently the prestigious title of Researcher of the Year by SFI (2015) and 2015 Irish Tatler magazine Woman of the Year Award for STEM.
The event will be streamed via Zoom and the University of Liverpool Facebook page.
