Biography

Peter graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1997; during this time he also obtained a 1st class honours degree in Physiology with Basic Medical Sciences. After 3 years working in first opinion practice, he then completed a Residency in Equine Clinical Studies at the University of Cambridge in 2003. Peter then undertook a PhD at the University of Cambridge investigating the physiology and pathology of equine articular chondrocytes between 2003-2006. In 2006, he was subsequently appointed as Lecturer in Equine Orthopaedics at the University of Liverpool. Peter holds the RCVS Certificate in Equine Orthopaedics and is currently studying towards the European Diploma in Equine Surgery. He is also responsible for the development and running of the hospital’s MRI unit.

  • Lameness diagnosis (including conditions of the neck and back)
  • Diagnostic imagine, particularly MRI
  • Orthopaedic surgery

Teaching

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of equine orthopaedics
  • Holds the Certificate in Professional Studies of Learning and Teaching in Higher Education
