Interns

The Equine Hospital currently employs 5 rotating interns who are responsible for assisting in the care of our inpatients and supervising undergraduate veterinary students whilst on their clinical rotations.

The interns are all qualified veterinary surgeons and are responsible for admission, evaluation and treatment of cases and provide high-level ongoing care of our equine inpatients under the supervision of a team of senior clinicians and senior clinical training scholars. These positions are highly sought after and provide our interns with further training in the fields of medicine, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics and imaging as well as student teaching and assessment.

Previous interns at the Equine Hospital have gone on to gain equine residency positions, PhDs or have returned to work in equine practice.

Veterinary surgeons interested in applying for internship positions can view our current opportunities. We usually have one intake of interns per year in spring (between February and May). Potential applicants are encouraged to visit the hospital to meet the team. If you would like to arrange a visit please contact Janet Hardman at jhardman@liverpool.ac.uk.

If you have any queries regarding the internship please contact Amie Wilson, the intern supervisor, at hlawils5@liverpool.ac.uk.
