Beyond the Pedestrian: Walking in Research, Theory, Practice and Performance

Thursday 26th July 2018, 9.30am-4.30pm

Venue: Management School Building, Chatham Street, University of Liverpool, L69 7ZH

This one-day interdisciplinary event is focused on walking research, practice and culture. It features presentations that both focus upon and incorporate walking practices to develop insights into the social world.

Our definition of walking is welcoming to all kinds of bodies and includes orthotics, sticks, wheels and other assistive technologies. Through this broad-based definition, participating scholars, activists and performers explore walking from a wide range of perspectives; from the theoretical and methodological applications of walking, to historical and literary allusions, and through to performance and activism.
